  1. Purpose

This Privacy Policy outlines the principles and practices followed by SenseNet Inc. to ensure the privacy and security of all data processed through our wildfire detection platform. This includes policies governing data collection, encryption, infrastructure independence, and client responsibilities.

  1. Scope

This policy applies to all SenseNet-operated systems, including environmental sensors, AI-powered cameras, gateways, cloud infrastructure, and the SenseNet web platform.

  1. Data Collection

SenseNet does not collect or store any personal, sensitive, or location-based data from users. Our technology is designed to:

  • Collect only anonymized environmental data (e.g., gas levels, smoke, temperature)
  • Use real-time camera feeds that are automatically blurred in sensitive areas
  • Avoid collection of personally identifiable information (PII)
  • Prevent behavioral tracking, profiling, or targeted analysis

  1. Data Encryption and Security

SenseNet uses the following industry-standard encryption protocols:

  • Data in transit: TLS 1.2 or higher
  • Data at rest: AES-256 encryption
  • Encryption keys are managed through AWS Key Management Service (KMS) with HSM-backed protection

All alert data (SMS, email, push) is transmitted via secure channels and contains no personal or sensitive information.

Detailed information is available in our Security Statement.

  1. Camera Feed Handling

Camera feeds are processed by SenseNet’s AI detection models and are not stored or monitored by humans. In all areas marked as sensitive or residential, automated blur masking is applied. No facial recognition or individual tracking is performed.

  1. Infrastructure Independence

SenseNet is designed to operate without any dependency on client infrastructure:

  • Devices use independent Rogers LTE/5G connectivity
  • No access to client networks, servers, or IT systems
  • No software installation or data hosting is required from the client
  • All hardware is installed, managed, and updated remotely by SenseNet’s operations team

  1. Website Usage and Cookies

We collect limited technical information from website visitors, such as browser type, operating system, and general IP region. This data is used solely for website optimization and user experience.

We use minimal cookies, strictly for session management and language preferences. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

  1. Data Sharing and Subprocessors
  • SenseNet does not sell or share data with third parties
  • Subprocessors are used only for cloud infrastructure and platform delivery
  • All subprocessors are contractually bound to follow strict data security standards
  • A current list of subprocessors is available at https://sensenet.ca/subprocessors

  1. Data Transfers and Retention

Data may be stored in secure cloud environments in Canada or the United States. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Anonymized sensor and alert data is retained only as long as needed for operational analysis, performance evaluation, and system reliability.

  1. Children’s Privacy

SenseNet does not offer services to children and does not knowingly collect data from individuals under the age of 18.

  1. User Rights and Access

As no personal data is collected, there are no user-specific data profiles. However, authorized system users may request reports related to their device activity or operational data access. All requests must be verified and submitted via [email protected].

  1. Updates to This Policy

SenseNet may update this policy as needed to reflect operational changes or legal requirements. All updates will be published with a revised effective date.
